Student Productions announced last Wednesday that Yellowcard will headline the major spring concert on April 17 in Plant Park.
Student Productions sent out a survey via Blackboard in the Fall semester. Questions included band choices, location and several others dealing with the Spring Concert.
After a long, exciting night at the Campus Movie Fest Finale, the results were announced.
Originating from Jacksonville, Florida, Yellowcard has produced many hit albums such as Ocean Avenue in 2003 and the more recent Lights and Sounds and Paper Walls.
Hit tracks have been, “Ocean Avenue,” “Light Up The Sky,” “Only One” and “Way Away.”
As far as the location of the concert, the original location was in the soccer field but due to the recent construction it would not be available for the concert.
The second location was the intramural field, but it was also not available.
Going back to the original choice, Plant Park will be the ideal place for the April 17 concert.
Other band choices were Sum 41, Hootie and the Blowfish, Jason Aldean, Wyclef Jean, Lifehouse, Motion City Soundtrack, Sugar Land, Mario, Lloyd Banks and Three 6 Mafia.
The time of the concert has not been finalized, but it will be available in the coming weeks.
Yellowcard is coming to UT as a part of their “unplugged” acoustic tour around the country.
This tour also comes after a live recording in the fall.
itunes invited Yelllowcard to do a live recording for their ‘Live From Las Vegas at the Palms’ album while they were on the Blue October tour.
This was the first live recordings that they have done in a long time.
The ‘Live From Las Vegas at The Palms’ went on sale on January 22.
Yellowcard’ newest album, Paper Walls has more of an Ocean Avenue feel.However, Lights and Sounds had a different sound than Ocean Avenue.
Their line-up looks good for UT, and it’s only weeks away.
