Celebrity Dancing Trots Into Tampa

For those fans of “Dancing With The Stars,” Tampa presented its very own Celebrity Dancing in Tampa Bay on Thursday night at the Tampa Performing Arts Center downtown.

Local celebrities were paired with professional partners to the delight of over 1,800 people. All ticket sales and votes for the championship title were donated to in The Spring Daytime Auxiliary.

The Spring is the largest domestic violence shelter in Florida and has served over 30,000 victims of domestic violence since it opened its doors.

Some of the Tampa celebrities included former Mayor Dick Greco, retired NFL punter Mark Royals, WFLA Channel 8 Anchor Gayle Guyardo and Channel 3 host Cathy Unruh.

After the votes were tallied, Cathy Unruh and her professional partner, Martin Rivera, were given the title of the Celebrity Dancers of Tampa Bay.

The winners received a free trip to Los Angeles for the next taping of “Dancing with the Stars.”

The group of dancers gave a final show-dancing the meringue to “Hot, hot, hot” as the audience rose to their feet.
