MTV’s Video Music Awards (VMAs) are set to air at 8 p.m. EST on Sept. 12. The VMAs are a yearly music award show, with multiple performers and 17 categories where viewers decide the winners. 

Last year, 705 thousand Americans watched the VMAs live, according to Statista. The show can be watched on MTV, cable, Paramount+ and Hulu+ Live Tv. 

Each person is limited to 10 votes per person per category per day. Voting is currently open for “best new artist”. Fans can vote for group of the year on their Instagram page. The last category to vote for is on Sept. 7 for “song of summer”. Voting for all other categories are closed.

The VMAs will last for two hours and 45 minutes. There will be 16 performances throughout the show from Anitta, Demi Lovato, Diddy, Doja Cat, Kaliii, Karol G, Kelsea Ballerini, Lil Wayne, Maneskin, NLE Choppa, Renee Rapp, Sabrina Carpenter, Shakira, Stray Kids, The Warning and Tomorrow X Together. 

Nominees for the Best New Artist are GloRilla, Ice Spice, Kaliii, Peso Pluma, PinkPantheress and Renee Rapp.

Nominees for Group of the Year are BlackPink, Fifty Fifty, FLO, Jonas Brothers, Maneskin, NewJeans, Seventeen and Tomorrow X Together.

Nominees for Song of Summer are Beyonce, Billie Eilish, Doechii ft. Kodak Black, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Fifty Fifty, Gunna, Jung Kook ft. Latto, Luke Combs, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice, Olivia Rodrigo, SZA, Taylor Swift ft. Ice Spice, Tomorrow X Together and the Jonas Brothers, Troye Sivan and Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma. 

Nominees for Album of the Year are Beyonce, Drake and 21 Savage, Metro Boomin, Miley Cyrus, SZA and Taylor Swift.

Nominees for Video of the Year are Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Smith and Kim Petras, SZA and Taylor Swift.

Nominees for Artist of the Year are Beyonce, Doja Cat, Karol G, Nicki Minaj, Shakira and Taylor Swift.

Nominees for Song of the Year are Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Rema and Selena Gomez, Sam Smith and Kim Petras, Steve Lacy, SZA and Taylor Swift.

Nominees for PUSH Performance of the Year are Saucy Santana, Stephen Sanchez, JVKE, Flo Milli, Renee Rapp, Ram Ryder, Armani White, Fletcher, Tomorrow X Together, Ice Spice, FLO and Laren Spencer Smith. 

Nominees for Best Collaboration are David Guetta and Bebe Rexha, Diddy ft. Bryson Tiller and Ashanti and Yung Miami, Karol G and Shakira, Metro Boomin with The Weekend ft. Savage and Diddy, Post Malone with Doja Cat and Rema and Selena Gomez.

Nominees for Best Pop are Demi Lovato, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Pink and Taylor Swift. 

Nominees for “best hip-hop” are Diddy ft. Bryson Tiller and Ashanti and Yung Miami, DJ Khaled ft. Drake and Lil Baby, GloRilla and Cardi B, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Wayne ft. Swizz Beatz and DMX, Metro Boomin ft. Future and Nicki Minaj. 

Nominees for Best R&B are Alicia Keys ft. Lucky Daye, Chloe and Chris Brown, Metro Boomin with The Weekend and 21 Savage and Diddy, SZA,Toosii and Yung Bleu with Nicki Minaj.

Nominees for Best Alternative are Blink-182, Boygenius, Fall out Boy, Lana Del Rey ft. Jon Batiste, Paramore and Thirty Seconds to Mars.

Nominees for Best Rock are Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Maneskin, Metallica, Muse and Red Hot Chili Peppers. 

Nominees for Best Latin are Anitta, Bad Bunny, Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma, Grup Frontera and Bad Bunny, Karol G and Shakira, Rosalia and Shakira.

Nominees for “best K-pop” are Aespa, BlackPink, Fifty Fifty, Seventeen, Stray Kids and Tomorrow X Together. 

Nominees for Best Afrobeats are Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Davido ft. Musa Keys, Fireboy DML and Asake, Libanca, Rema and Selena Gomez and Wizkid ft. Ayra Starr. 

Nominees for Video for Good are Alica Keys, Bad Bunny, Demi Lovato, Dove Cameron, Imagine Dragons and Maluma.

Nominees for Show of the Summer are Beyonce, Blackpink, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Karol G and Taylor Swift. 

Best director, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Choreography, Best Art Direction and Best Editing are included as professional categories. 

Beyonce currently holds the most VMAs with 28 awards overall. 26 for solo categories, a  Vanguard award and an award with Destiny’s Child. 

The VMAs pre-show will begin at 6:30 p.m. EST with performances and interviews with celebrities.
