Trump sued by former staffer over sexual misconduct

By Francisco Navarro

Since President Donald Trump came into office, he has denied dozens of sexual harassment allegations, disregarding  them as false claims and lies. It’s time to open our eyes as a nation and act upon this misconduct.

A former Trump campaign staffer, Alva Johnson, has rightfully filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Trump. Johnson claims the incident happened in an RV during Trump’s Tampa campaign stop during the 2016 elections.

Johnson claims  that after telling Trump to “kick ass” in his upcoming speech, Trump told her he wouldn’t let her down, and leaned in for a kiss.  Johnson claims that despite her attempts to prevent this from happening, Trump forcibly kissed the corner of her lips.

Dozens of women have come forward and tried to tell their own stories about Trump’s behavior towards them. There are 23 women that have publicly accused Trump of sexual misconduct, according to a report by Business Insider.

All 23 of the stories  have a common theme, being that Trump forcibly kissed, groped and harassed them without their consent. Trump has denied each of those allegations while simultaneously disrespecting them with his comments.

What’s more troubling is that Trump’s predatory conduct towards women has been occuring  over four decades, according to the timeline presented by the victims. These stories continue to fade away, as he diverts the media and citizens with his presidential agenda.

There are many other national issues that need immediate attention, but that is the problem with public perception on these sexual harassment cases against Trump — we are not seeing how it plays into a much bigger issue.

What makes this such a complicated issue  is not just the dozens of supported allegations against him, it’s the evidence—videos, statements and recordings that contradict all he says. Since the release of the Access Hollywood tape, where we listen Trump saying his repulsive comments, we’ve been able to see the severity of this problem.

“Yeah, that’s her. With the gold. I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful – I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything,”  Trump said.

That’s our president, people. That’s @realDonaldTrump.

Even though this  statement was said in 2005 before he was even a candidate for presidency, he put out  a public statement when it was released in October 2016, saying that video is more than a decade old and he’s a changed man that will not fail the women of this country. Meanwhile, on August 2016, the Johnson incident happened.

It’s upsetting that Trump’s reputation of objectifying and insulting women based on their physical attributes, just demonstrates how he operates and thinks of women and shows he doesn’t consider women as equal.

Trump has affected society in a negative way, especially when it is evident that he has been accused of sexual harassment, and doesn’t bear the consequences.
