Over the weekend, it was announced that The Minaret was the winner of four awards in the 2011 Sunshine State Awards from the Florida College Press Association. Honors include:
- 2011 3rd Place, Best College Newspaper
- 2011 2nd Place, Best College Media Website
- 2011 3rd Place, College Journalist of the Year, Joshua Napier
- 2011 3rd Place, Feature Photo, Samantha Battersby
