Cooking in the Dorm: Russian Tea Cakes

This holiday tradition in my family, Russian Tea Cakes, is a staple in our festive diet.

They are so delicious and easy to make! When you’re strapped for cash, they make a perfect gift for family and friends. From my family to yours, I hope that you enjoy this holiday treat!

Ingredients:

1 cup softened butter

1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

2 and 1/4 cups flour

1/4 tsp. salt

3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Procedure:

Preheat oven to 380 degrees.

Combine butter, powdered sugar and vanilla in a bowl and blend with mixer until creamy.

In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt and walnuts. Add this mixture to the other bowl and stir with spoon.

Chill the dough for about an hour.

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and bake for 10-12 minutes. Don’t let them brown.

Remove and let cool. Dust with powdered sugar and enjoy!
