Senior cross-country stand-out Laura Woznicki recently qualified for the 2008 NCAA II Track and Field Championships with a school record time in a 5K race.
Her time of 17:19 in the 5K at the Florida State University Invite was also good enough for a new school record, breaking Alison Macsas’s 2005 time of 17:32.
Macsas also holds the 6K record time, and is the only All-American in program history.
The Florida native traveled to the FSU Invite with fellow teammate, Paige Williams, who won the 10,000 meter race with a time of 37:40.
Williams was glad to win the race, but would have preferred a time that qualified her for the same national competition that Woznicki will appear in.
“It was a great feeling to win a big race against some Division I girls,” Williams said. “I had trained really hard for that race, and even though I won, I wish it had shown in my time.”
