Soccer Twins Shoot for National Squad
Maria and Marissa Mohammed will compete for the Trinidad National Team in the CONCACAF women’s Olympic qualifiers.
The juniors, who last played for Trinidad in January 2006, combined for 18 points this season for UT (six goals, six assists).
The tournament started this week and will conclude on April 12. Only the top two teams in the tournament will receive bids to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
Trinidad ‘ Tobago face Canada on April 2 and take on Costa Rica on April 4.
Crew Tunes Up for SSC
In their last meet before the SSC regatta, the women’s crew team picked up a victory in the Novice four, which consists of four rowers and a coxswain.
The team was less successful in the Varsity eight and four boats, finishing last in each race.
Black Earns All-America Awards
Jeremy Black’s basketball season garnered him a spot on the State Farm Division II All-America team, adding to his Daktronics All-America award.
The SSC and South Region Player of the Year averaged 18.7 points and 11 rebounds in 30 games this season.
