Candlelight Vigil to be held in Memory of Nicholas Kopplin

Tonight, in the Vaughn Center Courtyard a candlelight vigil will be held in honor of Nicholas Kopplin.

Kopplin, a senior finance major, passed away last Tuesday, Aug. 21, when his motorcycle slammed into a guardrail on I-275.

The vigil will begin at 8 p.m. and last until 10 p.m.

A slide show presentation put together by his roommates will be showing in the Vaughn Center.

Kopplin always wanted to sell bracelets that said, “The University of Tampa.” In honor of his wish, bracelets that say, “Drive Safe Nicholas Kopplin,” his birth date and date that he died will be sold for $3. All donations will go to Kopplin’s family.

Family and friends from St Louis, Mo. will be traveling to UT for the vigil.

Dean of Students, Bob Ruday is scheduled to speak during the vigil. Another speaker will include a witness of the accident. A few friends of Kopplin are also scheduled to speak.
