Last Saturday, 173 UT students got out of bed and “Into the Streets,” for an orientation event organized and sponsored by the P.E.A.C.E. Volunteer Center.

Dressed in blue, the freshmen volunteers signed up to help out at a variety of Tampa community agencies that were in need of volunteers.

The event was also supported by 13 faculty and staff members who offered their guidance and service to several organizations.

Dr. Joe Sclafani and President Ronald Vaughn also showed their dedication to service by coming out to support the volunteers.

Dr. Vaughn got students in the volunteering mood by speaking-challenging them to be active citizens and volunteer throughout their UT career.

Students helped at assisted living homes, homeless shelters, therapeutic riding centers, and coastal clean-ups, making a difference in their new community one step at a time.

The P.E.A.C.E. Volunteer Center allows students to volunteer throughout the Tampa community on a regular basis, and provides a variety of events for all students to participate in.
