As the new semester begins here are some movies that are absolute must sees.

“Smokin’ Aces”

A Mob boss puts a heavy price on a Las Vegas Magician, Buddy who knows too much and is willing to turn him in. This attracts several different hit-men ready and anxious to earn the money.

To save Buddy and their case against the Mob, the FBI sends in two agents to protect Buddy and keep him out of danger. However, in this action/comedy directed by Joe Carnahan, they are in for more than they bargained for.

This movie looks great. Not only is it completely action-packed but includes an all star cast of Ben Affleck, Ray Liotta, Ryan Reynolds, Jason Batemen and the very talented Alicia Keys.

This looks to be a fast paced exciting movie. I can’t wait to see this movie which opens on Jan. 26. Go see it!

“Hannibal Rising”

I am not sure how excited I am for “Hannibal Rising.” This new movie in the Hannibal series takes us back to Hannibal Lechter as a young boy in the World War II era when his family is murdered and eaten by staving soldiers.

While this is obviously the moment in time that made Hannibal who he came to be, is it really necessary for us to see this on the big screen? I can’t really think a good time at the movies would be watching a family being eaten by hungry World War II soldiers; only time will tell if this sequel lives up to us predeccessors. “Hannibal Rising” opens Feb. 9th.
