Season 33 Has Begun
The 33rd season of Dancing with the Stars premiered on many platforms on Sept. 17, which captured the attention of viewers worldwide and the eyes of University of Tampa students. Every Tuesday, students await to be amazed by the new dances presented by the stars and their fellow instructors. While the dances are entertaining, there are some other reasons to watch the show, such as a National Football League player, bachelor stars, and a felon. Is it really Dancing with the Stars, or is it Gossip with the Stars?
Who is UTampa’s favorite Dancing with the Stars pair?
UTampa’s dance team members were eager to speak on the subject of Dancing with the Stars. But just because they are on the same dance team does not mean they are rooting for the same pair.
Ella Young said that Rylee Arnold and Stephen were her favorite pair to watch. American gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik made his first appearance on Dancing with the Stars, surprising the world and UTampa students with his dance moves and poise throughout the dances. But, do her other dance team members agree with that statement?
Ansleigh Lewis said Joey and Jenna were her favorite pair. The previous bachelor, Joey Graziadei, made his appearance on the show with gorgeous dancer Jenna Johnson. However, is it the dancing skill of Graziadei that captured the audience of fellow UTampa students, or was it that sparkling smile that made us all swoon?
Hannah Gruner is also a Joey and Jenna fan.
“Joey is actually a really good dancer, and even though he is not trained in it, he does really well and that is the whole point of the show: to teach a star how to dance,” said Gruner.
Lili Soelberg is rooting for Dwight Howard and Daniella Karagach. The adorable couple caught her attention.
“I like their acro bits and their dances. Also, their height differences are so cute, I think they make it work really well,” said Soelberg.
Dancing with the Stars or Dancing with the Felons?
At the start of the season, everyone was excited to see who the stars were but were shocked when they saw an ankle monitor on one of the dancers, Anna Delvey. Ezra Sosa, who is partnered with Delvey, could not hide his facial expressions when she walked into his studio. But, it was not only the dancers who were surprised but the viewers as well.
“I don’t think there should be a felon on the show,” Young said. “I don’t necessarily think it makes the dancers uncomfortable; [it’s] just unfair to reward her.”
Lewis agreed with Young’s statement and said, “I don’t think a felon should be on the show because she’s still under house arrest and it’s not fair to other people who are on house arrest and can’t leave their house.”
Is this true? Is it unfair for Delvey to get special treatment because she is a celebrity?
However, Soelberg sees the whole situation from a comedic standpoint and said, “I think the whole situation is hilarious, because she is so nonchalant about it and that she bedazzled it [the ankle monitor].”
But is this funny to everyone or just to those who are lighthearted about such situations?
The new season of Dancing with the Stars is already off to a heated start. Who will win this year? Start watching the show, find your favorite pair, and text 21523 with your favorite celebrity’s name for your chance to have some input on the winner.
