It’s that time of the year again when everyone is excited to find their perfect outfit for the occasion. Even though we don’t trick or treat anymore, dressing up for Halloween is still a tradition. It’s only where we’re going that changed. Maybe you go to parties or clubs, have a movie marathon with your friends, or do something else. No matter what the case might be, you’ll be stepping into someone else’s shoes for a day, and if you haven’t decided on who to be yet, here are some of the most popular outfits for this Halloween.
Just like every year, some classics are here to stay. Expect attires like cheerleaders, Harley Quinns, angels, devils, playboy bunnies, pirates, vampires, pumpkins, ghosts, clowns or celebrities like Avril Lavigne and Britney Spears.
Other costumes include Harry Potter, Stranger Things, Ghostbusters and superhero costumes the likes of Batman and Spider-Man. Of course, this is just a small sample of the world of possibilities and this year’s trend is nostalgia, so, be prepared to see many iconic outfits back in fashion.
After a deep dive into social, I got a good feeling about what’s to come fashion-wise this Halloween. If you go on Tiktok, you’ll see videos titled, “Halloween Costumes I Better See This Year,” and “Halloween Costumes That Aren’t Basic.” Some of the attires in them are from nostalgic cartoons and TV shows such as Kim Possible, Winx, Velma and Daphne from Scooby-Doo, Cassie and Maddy from Euphoria, Katherine Pierce from The Vampire Diaries and so on.
Others are from old movies like Clueless, The Princess Diaries, Mean Girls, Nightmare on Elm Street (Freddy Krueger), Carrie, and Jennifer’s Body. There were also some other ideas like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Betty Boop, female Joker, celebrities like Paris Hilton and Cher, cowgirl and so on.
With so many movie and TV show releases, we are bound to also encounter some of our newly beloved or not-so-beloved characters roaming around. I wouldn’t be surprised to see people dressing up as Avatar, Lord of the Rings, House of the Dragon, Alice Chambers from Don’t Worry Darling, and to my disgust, Jeffrey Dahmer. However, these aren’t the only popular costumes for the year.
According to Google searches, there has been an increase in people looking for outfits the likes of Hocus Pocus, Anna Delvey from Inventing Anna, Cruella, superheroes like Black Widow, Wanda Maximoff, and Deadpool; villains like Poison Ivy, Top Gun, and Chucky, among others.
It’s funny to see how Halloween trends change over the years. There are always those people who go all-out, those who DIY costumes, those with creative and unique costumes and also those who just throw anything on. By far, the last-minute Halloween outfit that I found on Tiktok was, Men in Black because who doesn’t love a good suit?
Also, the balloon aliens are just so fun! Whether you’re looking for a solo, couple or group costume, you’ll have so many different ideas to choose from just a click away. So, have fun and stay in the spirit of this lovely holiday.
