Books, Cafeteria, and University Housing High on Cost, Low on Value

Once again students face the horrible task of selling back their books to the huge thief they call the book store. However, while you are ripped off again, I suggest for next semester you purchase books online or through other bookstores.

You will pay a fraction of the price, which this school’s bookstore will coerce you into paying. By the way just in case, if you don’t know you can purchase your books online at Amazon or on eBay. Trust me it costs less. Last semester I paid $19 for one of my books online, while the price in the book store was close to $100. We are the consumer and we have the right and power to demand more.
It’s a shame the heads of this school allow the bookstore to sell overpriced books to students, many barely making ends meat to survive the hike in tuition.
Another aspect of UT we should pay some serious attention to is the cafeteria. My goodness, bad attitudes of its entire staff, dirty tables, high price is the trademark of coming to the University of Tampa.
The cafeteria must be placed under greater scrutiny by the school’s administration.
On a weekly basis you can basically guess what the menu will be; there is very little variety in the menus and that must be corrected.
If this school wants to charge us high prices, we must receive a better quality experience and services while we are here.
Besides the previous two mentioned boils on the backside of the University of Tampa, I now come to the school’s administration.
I’ve been attending this school for over a year, and I have never seen the president or members of the board being engaged with the student population. The hands-off approach makes me wonder: are they just out to get our money or are they out to make our experience an experience worth remembering at this institution?
Apparently they don’t seem to realize, too many students feel the lack of cohesiveness and engagement is boring, plain and simple!
Many other students and I hope the president and his staff interacts much more with the student population of the school.
You can be exposed to our bacteria; it won’t kill you.
Security, a major part of this institution, needs to be expanded. There is too few security officers for the student population. The number of officers cannot even manage a family picnic if something serious happened.’ We need to make our environment safer and hire more security guards.
The University of South Florida’s students are allowed to ride for free on Tampa’s public transportation; why are we not getting the same privilege?
This school needs to look out for its students more. My peers, when asked if they would recommend this institution to their peers, emphatically stated they will never recommend this school to their friends or family.
When asked why, many stated they were not getting value for the money they were paying.
The University of Tampa is also slapping the students in their face by building the chapel, especially when more on-campus housing and classrooms are needed and more scholarships could have been provided with the money used to build the chapel.
It makes me wonder is this a business move? I begin to think, if they build a chapel they can charge for the staging of weddings and other events which the chapel can be rented out for.
This is a sad state of affairs; oh well, next semester many people will still get bad service from the school, many people will still be ripped off by the book store, and many more people will complain about the high prices they are paying at this school.
