Jackie Marcus, a UT Junior and Music major, will perform her very first solo recital in the Grand Salon.
The 30- to 45-minute show will consist of three pieces and begins sharply at 4 p.m. on March 2.
Marcus has been involved in many ensembles here at UT including the Wind Ensemble, The Orchestra, Flute Ensemble, Jazz Band, Spartan Band and more.
Since this is Marcus’ first solo recital her emotions are running wild.
“I’m VERY nervous, but I know I’m prepared. Now it’s just waiting for the day to show everything I’ve got!”
One of her pieces entitled “Syrinx” (Debussy) will definitely prove to be a nerve-wrecker, as it uses no accompaniment, just one solo flute.
As a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, Marcus takes comfort in their support and help to make this her best show.
So come out and support this up-and-coming musician who leaves this interview with some strong and confident words.
“All I have to do is stay focused, have faith, and take pride in the love of my family, friends, and the Music Department.” Marcus said.
Her recital will showcase her dedication to the art.
