UT and ReadyAlert will conduct a test this Friday (Feb. 8)of the SMART system, UT’s emergency text messaging service (Spartan Mobile AleRT). The SMART system is used to notify the university community in a crisis.
Officials will send a test text message to all SMART system subscribers’ cell phones Friday. The subject and message lines will indicate this is only a TEST. No action is required.
If readers have not subscribed — or are unsure and would like to check — it takes less than a minute. From your cell phone:
1. Dial 877.724.3287
2. When asked for your access code: enter “88911” then the “#” sign.
Additional SMART information and FAQs are available at http://www.ut.edu/safety/Spartan-Mobile-AleRT.cfm.
If you experience difficulty in subscribing, recently changed cell phone providers or fail to receive the test text message, please email Support@ReadyAlert.com. Indicate your inquiry is regarding UT’s SMART service and list your cell phone:
-number (include your area code) -provider’s name (e.g., Verizon, AT’T) -model/description (e.g., Blackberry, Chocolate)
Feedback may be submitted to Smart@ut.edu.
