Tonight in the Vaughn Courtyard, located between the Vaughn Center and Brevard Hall, all new students are invited to the J’L street party at 9 p.m., free of charge. The party will carry a Caribbean island theme and feature live music from the steel drums and a DJ.

Student Productions is throwing the party along with UT Tampa Alpha alumni association and Sodexho, UT’s on campus dining service. Food and drinks will be provided to all attendees. Entertainment, aside from the music, includes laser tag and “extreme air” bungee trampolines.

Though it is geared toward incoming freshman and transfer students, returning students who may have attended last year are also welcome.

SP President Lisl Hinrichs is encouraging students to “come hang out and get to know your peers. The J’L street party is intended to mitigate the stress associated with orientation and help students meet potential friends from different dorms and gateways classes.”

The event is part of SP’s weekend long programming for orientation, which also includes a magician in Falk Theatre and a movie, “Blades of Glory,” in Reeves Theatre.
