Let me preface this review with a big “I don’t want to hear it.”
I’m quite fed up with all these so called “true” Modest Mouse fans criticizing the new Modest Mouse sound.
Every band goes through its own evolution and experimentation.
I assure you that Led Zeppelin’s first release, “Led Zeppelin I,” is completely different than their last, “In Through the Outdoor.”
It is highly evident that Bob Dylan’s self titled debut is a lot different than some of his other works, such as “Blood on The Tracks.” Even the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ early material falls far away from their most current release.
Music is an art, and the most creative artists can make meaning and harmonies sing with all different types of sounds, as does Modest Mouse with their so-called fifth full CD release, although they have an arrangement of EPs and compilations released as well.
“We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank” shows us why Modest Mouse is so often associated with the classification of original Indie Pioneers.
Sure, “We Were Dead

Nothing wrong with an artist being an artist, but that doesn’t mean people have to still like it. People change over time and often drift apart, it’s human nature. It’s not being any less of fan necessarily.
