Special to the MinaretThis semester the brothers of UT’s Theta Chi chapter initiated two groups of people.
The first group, consisting of 12 current undergraduate students, was initiated on Friday, April 6.
This is the traditional group of men who make the bold pledge to become brothers of the Epsilon Zeta chapter of Theta Chi this semester.
However, another group, this one consisting of eight men, were initiated into Theta Chi on Friday, April 13, 2007.
What makes this group special is that the members of this group have not been in college for over 50 years.
These men are members of Rho Nu Delta, one of the local fraternities that existed in the 1950s which eventually merged with another fraternity to form the chapter of Theta Chi that exists at UT today.
Theta Chi had a special alumni dinner for them earlier this semester but decided that simply was not enough.
Wishing to further honor these men, the Theta Chi brothers at UT decided to hold an initiation ceremony just for them, thus officially making them brothers of Theta Chi.
Those initiated were Petet Albano, Manuel Lobato, Henry J. Distefano, William Valdespino, Mike Menendez, Ernest Urso, Braulio Alonso, Ernesto C. Segundo, Sr.
