Fenelon Plays to Warm House

Allie Weinstein

On Wednesday, March 28 Joel Fenelon performed his junior recital to a large and eager crowd of peers, professors and friends.

The perfor-mance included four pieces and lasted about 45 minutes.

Fenelon played the tuba and performed four pieces in total.

His first, by Strauss, was accompanied by the University’s acclaimed music professor and professional pianist Grigorios Zamparas.

His second piece, by Persichetti, was a tuba solo comprised of six movements.

His third was another piano duet by Corelli.

He ended with an ensemble piece featuring five other horn players.

Even with just himself and his tuba, Fenelon did not fail in capturing the interest of even the most indifferent audience member.

The outgoing, endearing personality Fenelon is known for came through strong and clear in his performance and humble attitude throughout the evening.

Joel Fenelon is in his fourth year at the University of Tampa and is double majoring in music performance and business management.

He has played in such campus ensembles as the Jazz, Wind and Pep Bands.

Fenelon also participated in the Collegiate Chorale.

He has had the honor of making three appearances in the All-State Honor Bands, as well as playing with the University’s faculty Quintet.

The horn ensemble that joined Fenelon in his final piece consisted of Chris Clarke, Aleesa Plungis and freshmen Alex Vitale and Jackie Falcone.
