Natasha Sackett is continuing the fight for her life, according to Florida Blood Services. And UT students are doing their part to help her survive.
UT students, faculty and staff came together to donate 73 units of blood in order to help Freshman Natasha Sackett, who was critically injured in an accident on Kennedy Blvd. Oct 29.
The blood drive ran in front of the Sykes building from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Nov. 7.
Natasha’s family has kept friends and interested students updated with an online blog, which they update daily.
As of press time on Tuesday, many details of the accident have been cleared up.
It was found that Sackett was in fact wearing her helmet when the accident took place, although she was rendered comatose by the accident.
According to the family’s blog, Sackett’s neck is not broken, as was previously thought, though she is also suffering from cranial pressure from the swelling of her brain that resulted from the crash.
Sackett has also undergone multiple surgeries, mainly focusing on her leg and stomach. Her leg was extensively damaged in the accident and has since become infected, although doctors have been working to clean it up.
