Sigma Chi Tampa Makes A Difference at Covenant House

The brothers and pledges of Sigma Chi Tampa visited the Covenant House of Tampa on Oct. 7, where they met with Dr. Cory W. Crocker D.Min., Ph.D., Th.D., D.Div. and CEO of the Covenant House.

After receiving 10 minutes of background information on the idea behind the Covenant House, the men were put straight to work. With about 20 workers total, there was a lot of work split up between them.

The four main objectives of the day were: painting, picking up trash, assembling shelving units and moving food into the Covenant House.

Inside the house, many of the Sigs volunteered to paint the three rooms in desperate need of a new coat, while others helped bring in food. Others walked around the neighborhood to help pick up trash. Not only was this a community service event, but it also served as an opportunity to witness just how hard the people at Covenant House work to try and make the lives of others that much better.

Dr. Crocker and his team have dedicated themselves to the betterment of children who come to the house and anyone else who comes seeking guidance.

Although the event was only two hours long, thanks to the amount of Sigs that showed up to help the community, a lot more was accomplished than expected.
