At MEGACON, panels are the main draw for many attendees as they get to hear from and often ask questions to the actors and creators behind their favorite fandoms.
The Mummy cast reunion panel included Brendan Fraser, Oded Fehr, John Hannah, and Patricia Velasquez. Star Wars panels were plentiful this year, with John Boyega, who played Finn in the Star Wars Sequel trilogy; Diego Luna, who played Cassian Andor in Rogue One and the Andor series; and Terrence “T.C.” Carson, the voice of Mace Windu in The Clone Wars.
The main Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) panel this year was with Wyatt Russell, who plays John Walker.
In his panel, Russell discussed filming the fourth episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier that ends with John Walker standing over a body of someone he killed, blood dripping from Captain America’s shield.
Russell hadn’t watched many of the films before joining the MCU and was unaware of how big the moment would be. He had to be informed by the crew that “Captain America doesn’t kill people.”
The scene was very top secret, and while filming in Prague, black curtains were placed around the set to stop leaks. This didn’t stop much.
“I looked up, and everybody in their apartment building was filming,” said Russell, laughing.
Russell detailed finding out about the asterisk being added to the Thunderbolts title and the film being renamed to The New Avengers.
“I’m personally a Thunderbolts guy,” said Russell to a room of cheers.
Every mention by Russell of his upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday, was met with gasps from the audience.
