TAMPA, Fla. — Bad Bunny, one of Puerto Rico’s most popular artists, concluded his 30-day No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí with an estimated 600,000 attendees. It was later revealed that there would be one more show — professionally recorded and livestreamed for United States fans — though he did not perform live in the U.S.
Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, began his 30-day residency in honor of his album “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” in the Choliseo de Puerto Rico on July 11, 2025. Thousands of his fans waited for endless hours in the heat to try and obtain a ticket to this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Throughout the residency, he surprised audiences with appearances from Feid, LeBron James, and Rauw Alejandro. Fans could not get enough, making the experience unforgettable.
With his last concert date being on Sept. 14, fans were under the impression that it was his last show in Puerto Rico for the time being, but they were proven wrong. On Monday, Sept. 15, the Puerto Rican artist announced that he’d be playing one more show of the residency on Sept. 20, which was broadcasted live on Amazon Prime, Twitch, and the Amazon Music app. For fans who were not from the island, this last show was mainly for locals.
In an exclusive interview with i-D released on Sept. 10, the artist explained why he was not performing any shows in the United States during his extensive world tour.
“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate — I’ve performed there many times,” said Bad Bunny.
“People from the U.S. could come here to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world,” said Bad Bunny. “But there was the issue of — like, ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”
Bad Bunny has had a multitude of tours involving the United States, but this bold decision left fans feeling a certain way. He encouraged his true fans to travel to see him. Although this may seem like an unethical statement for some, many people would do it to witness such a talented artist express his culture so beautifully in a live show.
The Puerto Rican artist is not supportive of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). In a June Instagram post, he expressed outrage at federal agents in Puerto Rico for not “leaving these people working here alone.”
His frustration highlighted a concern for immigrant safety, which is why he chose to keep the tour in Puerto Rico.
