TAMPA, Fla — The University of Tampa Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) Greek Week 2025 raised $197,512 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
This year UTampa FSL partnered with Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, and all the money raised from each team during Greek Week will be donated to make as many wishes come true.
There are three winners of Greek Week, but one team can win in two categories, said senior Makayla Lombardi, FSL Student Coordinator of Social Programming.
“We have a winner for who raised the most money and a winner for the dance competition, the Greek Variety Show [GVS],” said Lombardi. “Normally, whoever wins the fundraiser also wins Greek Week.”
This year’s teams were:
- Hannah Montana: Delta Gamma, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Delta Upsilon, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
- Teen Beach Movie: Delta Zeta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and Sigma Phi Epsilon
- High School Musical: Kappa Alpha Theta, Lambda Chi Alpha, and Chi Phi
- Big Time Rush: Sigma Delta Tau, Phi Delta Theta, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
- Austin & Ally: Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Epsilon Phi, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
- Camp Rock: Delta Phi Epsilon, Zeta Beta Tau, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
- Cheetah Girls: Zeta Tau Alpha, Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
- Descendants: Sigma Kappa, Alpha Tau Omega, and Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority, Inc.
Day One
Starting Greek Week, all teams went to the UTampa baseball team game on Feb. 16. All teams sent representatives to compete in contests like the corn on the cob eating contest, frozen T-shirt contest, Fruit by the Foot eating contest, apple bobbing contest, and the best baseball poster contest.
“It was fun seeing all the teams together,” said Hannah Hughes, sophomore member of Sigma Kappa.
Winners for the first day include Team Descendants for the baseball poster contest, Team Austin & Ally for the corn on the cob contest, Team Descendents for the frozen T-shirt contest, Team Cheetah Girls for the Fruit by the Foot eating contest, and Team Austin & Ally for the apple bobbing contest.
Day Two
Day two consisted of two representatives from each team guessing the songs from each Disney movie after only hearing about five seconds of the song. Teams were given 2 points for guessing the name of the movie and song and one point for getting one detail right. Based on the number of points, each team was allowed to pie their Greek Week captains.
“I went with another girl in my sorority and a lot of other girls in our sorority went and cheered us on, as we were guessing songs,” said Giulietta Imperato, sophomore member of Delta Phi Epsilon.
The winners of Guess the Song were Team Austin & Ally. Team High School Musical and Cheetah Girls were tied in second place, with Team Descendants and Camp Rock tied in third place.
Day Three
The sidewalk chalk contest took place on day three. Each team creates a mural with chalk related to their team movie. This event took place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and team members stopped by all day to trace and color in their mural.
Team High School Musical placed first for their mural. Team Hannah Montana placed second place, with teams Cheetah Girls and Austin & Ally tied in third place.
Day Four
Day four started late with the Greeks After Dark event. Teams competed in dodgeball and tug war. Each team was required to have five girls and five boys on both their dodgeball and tug-war teams.
“[This week has been] very interactive,” said Luke Kelley, sophomore member of Alpha Tau Omega. “There are a lot of events that I get to go to and meet new people and hang out with my fraternity.”
Day Five
For day five, teams played bubble soccer on the Grand Center lawn. Players played soccer with an inflated bubble covering their heads and body.
Team Camp Rock took first place, with Team High School Musical and Team Cheetah Girls in second and third.
Day Six
On Friday, FSL held a Greek Development Workshop for each team to send representatives to. At this event, students learned the importance of networking and how students can use their involvement in a Greek organization to help build a resume.
Day Seven
In the last event of Greek Week with the GVS, each team choreographed a dance, and all students were allowed to watch and support everyone competing. Each team gets points for their dance, their cheer section, good sportsmanship, and following the rules. During this event, the winner of Greek Week 2025 is announced.
Team Teen Beach Movie took first place with the best dance at GVS. Team High School Musical placed second, with Team Austin & Ally taking third place.
During 2025 Greek Week, all teams raised a total of $197,512 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Team Cheetah Girls raised the most money with $62,199.
“Every wish for a kid costs around $8,000,” said Lombardi. “We wish to grant as many wishes as possible with the money we raise.”
The first-place trophy was given to Team Cheetah Girls for this year’s Greek Week competition.
