As the National Football League (NFL) season progresses into its critical Week 12 stretch, one name stands above the rest at the quarterback position: Lamar Jackson. The Baltimore Ravens’ signal-caller has not only cemented himself as a dynamic playmaker but also emerged as the league’s most consistent and impactful quarterback in 2024. “Growing up a Ravens fan makes it all worth it when we have seasons like this,” said Nigel Cockroft, a Ravens fan. “I got to go to a game in Baltimore this year, and the environment was electric.”
The offseason addition of offensive coordinator Todd Monken has also played a crucial role. Monken’s system has emphasized quick reads and a more diversified passing attack, allowing Jackson to distribute the ball effectively.
Wide receiver Zay Flowers has blossomed, providing a reliable target alongside tight end Mark Andrews. The improved chemistry within the Ravens’ offense has allowed Jackson to thrive in both the short and deep passing games.
Beyond the stats, Jackson’s leadership has been instrumental in Baltimore’s resurgence. His relentless work ethic and ability to rally his teammates have set the tone for the Ravens’ season. Whether it’s a crucial fourth-quarter drive or a pregame speech, Jackson’s influence is felt throughout the locker room.
Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin said he isn’t into comparing anyone to “Mr. Jackson,” when asked about comparisons between rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and Lamar Jackson.
This intangible quality is perhaps the most underrated aspect of his game. Despite facing criticism earlier in his career for his unconventional playing style, Jackson has silenced doubters with his consistent excellence and ability to elevate those around him.
While other quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and Tua Tagovailoa have had stellar seasons, Jackson’s dual-threat capability gives him a unique edge. Mahomes’ Chiefs have shown signs of inconsistency, and Hurts’ Eagles, though dominant, have relied more on their supporting cast. Meanwhile, Tagovailoa has excelled in the Dolphins’ high-octane offense but lacks Jackson’s game-changing versatility.

“It is refreshing to see these players return to being the incredible athletes we watched before going pro,” said Derick Cruz, a Ravens fan. “They tend to let the pros get to their head, but Lamar has turned it around and is continuing to be an incredible role model and athlete.”
As Week 12 approaches, Lamar Jackson stands as the NFL’s top-ranked quarterback and for good reason. His combination of elite passing, electrifying rushing, and undeniable leadership makes him the most complete and dynamic quarterback in the league today. With the Ravens firmly in playoff contention and Jackson playing some of the best football of his career, the sky’s the limit for both player and team. If his current trajectory holds, an MVP trophy and a deep postseason run could be well within reach.
