By Jon Muñoz

Puerto Rican reggaeton star Jhayco released his latest album, Le Clique: Vida Rockstar (X), with a title that reflects Jhayco’s journey as an evolving musician and his accomplished status in the industry.

For those who may not be familiar, Jhayco is a six-time Grammy-nominated musician who made a notable international debut in the Latino music industry in 2019. His remix of “No Me Conoce” with Grammy award winning stars Bad Bunny and J Balvin has garnered over 2 billion views on YouTube and 1.4 billion streams on Spotify. Soon after, his musical career skyrocketed to greater heights after this phenomenal debut. A year later, Jhayco would work with Bad Bunny again and create the mega-hit that was “DÁKITI.”

According to REMEZCLA, “It also made history by being the first Spanish-language song to be in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs charts at the same time.”

Riding on the newfound popularity, Jhayco released his follow-up album, Timelezz, where he cultivated his unique style and sound, fusing the elements that contributed to his popularity with more neo-like aesthetics.

Rolling Stone Australia praised the album in their “50 Best Albums of 2021” list, “While he’s had massive breakthroughs, such as his 2020 Bad Bunny collaboration ‘Dákiti,’ he hits a new peak on his sophomore album, Timelezz, and goes harder than he ever has before.”

After receiving high praise from the industry, the reggaeton star is set to reconnect with his fans through his latest album, Le Clique: Vida Rockstar (X)

Jhayco’s focus on this album seems to be more vulnerable and personal as he told Billboard: “It’s a new step in my career, a new chapter. I felt it was crucial to present this to the world, and what better way than to name the album after it.”

Following the album release, Jhayco unveiled several noteworthy singles that sparked anticipation. The album’s lead single, “Holanda,” became one of his most successful solo tracks, amassing over 340 million plays on Spotify. His collaboration with artists like Dei V, Quevedo, Peso Pluma, Bryant Myers, and Luar La L for the launch of the album further fueled the excitement. Le Clique: Vida Rockstar (X) consists of over 29 songs, providing a generous platform showcasing his distinctive reggaeton style. This new musical production reflects his unwavering dedication to fans following a 3-year hiatus between his previous projects. Stylistically, this new album combines interesting rock, reggaeton, and trap elements.

Le Clique: Vida Rockstar (X) takes us along a musical journey with his three-chapter disc-style album. The first disc focuses on Jhayco’s signature melodic and dark reggaeton sound while featuring some occasional indie rock tracks, especially with its explosive intro, “Vida Rockstar.” The second disc features more trap-focused songs featuring well-known artists such as YOVNGCHIMI, DJ Khaled, Eladio Carrion, and Omar Courtz. The final disc is more of a combination of the recently released singles, serving as a deluxe edition for fans.

Despite Jhayco diving into more self-driven musical territory, it’s clear that he aimed to create a highly collaborative production. This feature element makes this album shine, providing listeners with a diverse range of talented artists to keep on listening to. From Dei V to DJ Khaled, Jhayco’s collaborations span a wide spectrum, adding an element of excitement and diversity to the music production.Le Clique: Vida Rockstar (X) is now available on popular streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.
