New Music Friday came with a “Bang” this week. This designated day of the week highlights the best of releases from artists, including Albums, EP’s, Singles, Features, and Remixes.
On Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, many new music releases fall under many genres. The most memorable of releases include Jennifer Lopez’s New Album titled “This is Me… Now,” and Two singles that hit artists discographies include Dua Lipa’s single titled “Training Season” and Ariana Grandes Remix of her single “Yes, And” with Mariah Carey.
Jennifer Lopez is an American singer, actress, and dancer. She is best known as “Jenny from the Block!” Lopez released her first album, “On the 6,” on June 1, 1999. Her music evolves into different areas of music from Pop, R&B, Latin, and Hip Hop. Lopez has a very popular song that never fails to hit any party. Her song “On the Floor” always gets those who need a jam to uplift themselves and have fun. On the 16th, Lopez released her 9th Studio Album titled “This is Me. Now.” This is a rendition of her third Studio Album titled “This is Me… Then.” Both albums shine. Alight on Lopez’s relationship with Actor and Filmmaker Ben Affleck. 2002, she was engaged to Affleck after dating for only three months. They postponed their wedding for almost two years, until January 2004 when they decided to split. In 2024, they got back together and have been happily married since July 2022. Her new album has brought the genres R&B and Pop to life with a love story as the plot. The album has 16 songs of storytelling that is never-ending.
Dua Lipa is an English/Albanian singer and songwriter who will announce her third studio album soon. On Friday the 16th, she released her new single, “Training Season.” The song’s genre also falls under Pop with some feeling of disco-pop. The singer gets tired of judgment and feels she will never make the right choices. In November 2023, Lipa released “Houdini,” the first single for her new upcoming album. Another Pop song under Lipa’s discography brings 80’s synth washes and a driving beat that could make everyone get up and dance. The song means if someone will be “tongue in cheek, exploring if someone will be worth my while, or if I’ll ghost them in the end.” Dua Lipa is just starting her career and her music is a “must have,” for any occasion.
“Yes, And?” Ariana Grande has announced her Seventh Studio Album, “Eternal Sunshine,” which will be released on March 8, 2024. Her lead single for the album is titled “Yes, And?” The song brings house and pop to the world with Bob Fosse’s choreography in the music video accompanying the lead single. The remix to the single, with Mariah Carey, was a surprise to all, when she announced that Carey was going to join the song. Carey brings a spin with her high notes and shares a duet with Grande in the song. Their voices are extraordinarily magical and transport you to a different world where no other artist’s voice could blend.
