I was looking forward to the 2024 Grammy Awards because, as a Swiftie, I knew something would happen when fans recognized all of the easter eggs. Still, I never anticipated being so blown away by the exciting news. During her speech after winning the Grammy for Pop Vocal Album, Taylor Swift announced that she is releasing a new album, “The Tortured Poets Department” on April 19, 2024. On top of that, she also won Album Of The Year, making her the first artist to win that four times for her albums “Fearless,” “1989,” “Folklore,” and “Midnights.”
After completing her second round of the Eras Tour and rooting on “the guy on the Chiefs,” Travis Kelce, as he is about to play in the Super Bowl, she fooled all the Swifties who suspected her of announcing “Reputation: Taylor Version.”
“I was completely in shock when she announced a brand new album instead of ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version),’” said Corinne Hughes, a die-hard Swiftie. “I was fully convinced that’s what it would be, but I couldn’t be more excited for the new album.”
It does not take long for fans to recognize the easter eggs Swift drops when she has something to announce, but fans suspected the release of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” because she and all her friends changed their profile pictures on Instagram to black and white. Reputation is a powerful album with dark meanings, but the album cover for “The Tortured Poets Department” is black and white, which is her reason for that.
I have seen Taylor Swift in concert before for her “Speak Now” and “Red” tours, and I watch all of the Era’s Tour videos all over TikTok. She puts on a fantastic show and is an outstanding performer, but I wonder how she has the time to do all she does. Swift recently finished the Era’s Tour throughout South America and just started her international leg of the tour on Feb. 6 in Tokyo, Japan. There is also speculation that she will be on the sidelines of the Super Bowl on Feb. 11 to cheer on Kelce. When does she have the time for a new album to be released? Her string of accolades throughout her career thus far is evidence of her perseverance and dedication to her fans.
In addition to her numerous achievements, she has won 14 Grammy Awards and more nominations for Song Of The Year than any other performer in Grammy history. Altogether, she holds 40 awards, meaning she has won the most American Music Awards in history, and she continues to exceed everyone’s expectations and create more art. Many prominent people admire her, such as the actor Jessica Capshaw, who posted an appreciation post for Swift on February 7th, and many more.
“Taylor, you are lighting up the world with your unique brand of magic,” said Capshaw. “I love that your lyrics put together all the most vulnerable and powerful pieces that make up the whole of living. And what I love most is the deep and upending love and devotion our girls feel for you.”
Jessica Capshaw highlights how Swift has become an influential figure for young girls worldwide. As a girl who grew up listening to Taylor Swift, I can now say that there is no better role model for girls and women. Swift has shown girls and women that hard work and dedication to creating art pieces that females and mostly everyone can relate to show through everything she has and will accomplish. Many people have said they are tired of seeing Taylor Swift everywhere, especially now that she, according to Tiktok, “put that football player on the map,” but many fans have responded and said they could not get enough of her.
“I love Taylor and Travis together,” Hughes said. “I love how they came to be with him mentioning her on his podcast with Jason. It’s also great because now we see more of her on TV.”
Taylor Swift will continue to wow her fans as they await the release of her upcoming album. Meanwhile, I’ll be watching her new Era’s Tour documentary in the movies while waiting for the complete version to be released on Disney+ on March 15. Who is ready for a viewing party followed by a listening party a month later?“‘Everyone is like, ‘Why do you make so many albums?’ And I’m just like, ‘Man, because I love it. I love it so much,’” Swift said. “‘I’m having fun. Leave me alone.’”
