On Dec. 18, 2024, the University of Tampa’s Board of Trustees announced Teresa Abi-Nader Dahlberg as the university’s next president.
Dahlberg, who has served in higher education for over 20 years, has been provost and vice chancellor for Texas Christian University (TCU) academic affairs since 2019.
Before joining TCU, Dahlberg served as the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University in New York.
Dahlberg, who holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and both a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from North Carolina State University, has also served as chief academic officer and Dean of the Albert Nerken School of Engineering at Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and associate Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics at the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
In an official statement, Dahlberg spoke about leading UT in the future.
“The prospect of building an even stronger and more impactful UT is a challenge that I embrace, and I look forward to working with the UT community,” Dahlberg said.
Dahlberg replaces outgoing President Ronald Vaughn, who announced his retirement in March of 2023 after holding the position for 30 years.
Vaughn oversaw UT during exponential growth, including record student enrollments, record budget increases and immense transformations to UT’s campus.
Dahlberg is set to take the reins as president officially on June 1, 2024.
