Bucs, Buckets, and Brews: Local Spots for Sunday Football

By: Caroline McDaniel

Tampa Bay, now often known as Champa Bay, is home to many pubs, bars, and restaurants that offer a wide range of game day specials. As last year’s Super Bowl Champion, Tampa has stepped up their game on football Sundays. Whether or not you are a Bucs fan, those football Sundays are better spent eating chicken wings and enjoying cold beverages with your friends.

Hattricks Tavern located at 107 S Franklin St.

Happy hour from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. on Sunday offers a dollar off of their beer of the month along with serving food specials such as chili cheese dogs. Hattricks’ beer of the month is Coppertail’s Florida Special Lager. They also have bucket specials, 95¢ Wings, $2.25 Beer, and two for one Wells $16 Buckets.

Paddywagon’s Irish Pub located at 813 N Tampa St.

In the heart of Downtown Tampa, they offer a wide range of drink specials and they even have a giveaway going on this football season. Paddy’s offers $3.00 Miller Lite & Coors Light drafts all day Sunday. If you scan the QR code on the Miller Lite advertisement in the pub, it enters you into a drawing for two free tickets to the next Bucs game.

District Tavern located at 116 N 12th St

District Tavern offers a menu every game day including $5.50 Mango Cart and Stella beers, select domestic buckets for $18, Corona buckets for $25, and Bud Light Seltzer buckets for $25. They also have 10 screens, a live sound system, and a kitchen open late for game days.

MacDinton’s in Soho located at 405 S Howard Ave

One of the more well-known bars in the Tampa area has a wide range of game day deals. They offer $15 bottomless mimosas until 6 p.m., 50% off liquor, $3 Miller Lite bottles, $15 Miller Lite buckets, $20 White Claw buckets, and $3 Yuengling Drafts.

Bar Hwrd located at 302 S Howard Ave

Another infamous Soho bar, Bar Hwrd, offers its own tailgate menu featuring sliders, tortilla wraps, pan nachos, and more.

Park & Rec in Tampa located at 290 S Meridian Ave

Park & Rec is full of indoor and outdoor games so there is much more to do than watch football. They also have 60 TVs and four bars. On NFL game days, they offer $4 Yuengling, Miller Lite, and Coors Lite tall boys, and $5 White Claws.

For those traveling in bigger groups on game days, Park & Rec offers 12 pack coolers including Miller Lite and Coors Light for $42. Additionally, they sell a 12-pack cooler of White Claws for $45.

Applebee’s

If you are looking for a more lowkey Sunday spot, Applebee’s has a 2 for $20 menu featuring steak, ribs and more entrees that lets two people dine for one price. The next time you are looking for a romantic spot to take your significant other for Sunday dinner, Applebee’s has you covered at a low price.

There are many more spots that Tampa Bay has to offer but these are just a few places to highlight this football season.
