Fall is Here and so are the Pumpkin Items

Tampa is home to many different restaurants with seasonal menus that people may not be aware of. From elegant dining to fast food chains, Tampa is getting into the Fall spirit this October. Here is a restaurant guide to just a few of the Fall menu items Tampa has to offer this spooky season.

 For those who are brunch lovers, First Watch located downtown is at a perfect walking distance from The University of Tampa. They are introducing their new fall menu items which include a Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast, Butternut Squash Bisque, Pumpkin Spice Donuts, Carrot Crush juice, and a Truffle Mushroom Hash made with house-roasted mushrooms, bacon, cheese paired with seasoned potatoes, two eggs, parmesan cream sauce, truffle oil and lemon dressed arugula. 

 Starbucks offers many Fall menu items including the famous “Pumpkin Spice Latte.” 

Dylon Redden, an employee at the new Starbucks in Downtown Tampa, shares his thoughts when it comes to the popularity of all things pumpkin flavor.

“The most popular Fall item is definitely the Pumpkin Spice Latte as about 70% of the people that come into Starbucks order this drink but my favorite drink is the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew,” said Redden.

Buddy Brew Coffee, located in Downtown Tampa and Kennedy Boulevard can be another location for coffee lovers or those who want a festive fall drink. They have introduced their new fall drink, a Nitro Apple Cider Bourbon Cocktail. 

Eros Gunyeli, senior finance major at UT, lives in the heart of Downtown Tampa and enjoys walking to Buddy Brew Coffee as it just re-opened a few months ago after being closed due to COVID-19.

 “I think Buddy Brew’s coffee is better than Starbucks because it tastes authentic and I like to support local businesses as well,” Gunyeli said.

 Panera’s Fall soup called Autumn Squash Soup is packed with nutrients and fresh ingredients. 

Laine Kenny, senior at UT, looks forward to Panera’s Autumn Squash Soup as it correlates with her no-meat diet. Kenny has been vegetarian for six years and does not plan to change her diet.

“Sometimes as a vegetarian it can be difficult to find meatless soups because many use chicken or beef broth, but Panera is my favorite place to go as their Fall Squash Soup pairs nicely with a grilled cheese,” Kenny said.

Bulla, a fine dining restaurant located in Soho, is known for their authentic tapas and this fall they are bringing “A Taste of Winter from Spain.” They just announced their new fall menu items on their website. 

Where there will be items as a “cream of Butternut Squash: A delicious creamy bowl of butternut squash soup with hints of herbs served with fresh cracked pepper, Spanish paprika, and toasted cheese crostini to dip. Braised Brisket Caldoso, Natillas: A traditional Spanish custard made with condensed milk, cinnamon, and Maria cookies. Parrillada de Verduras: A perfect plate of grilled veggies served with a house-made romesco sauce.”

Being a college student, your wallet can become a little empty and sometimes fast food is the right answer. 

PDQ, People Dedicated to Quality, is a great fast-food restaurant with affordable pricing and fresh tasting food. PDQ is known for their fried chicken and southern comfort food. Their fall menu is back and consists of four, mouth-watering items; crispy turkey with cranberry relish, herb seasoned mayo and lettuce, all on a toasted potato bun. Their new sweet potato waffle fries and spiced marshmallow dipping sauce and to finish it off with a sweet treat, their hand-spun pumpkin spice shake

Although Tampa does not exactly feel like the Winter seasons are coming, restaurants around town are making an effort to incorporate fall menu items to attract more people.
