The men’s and women’s swimming teams broke into two teams for their Intrasquad competition on Sept. 30 on campus. The meet helps the swimmers prepare for their regular season meet, which begins on Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. against Rollins College. The team will compete in Winter Park.
“We have a lot of good new guys this year and we’re excited to start our season coming out fast,” Luke Maxwell, sophomore, said.
Last season the spartans ended their season at the NCAA Championships for Division II. The women came in at No. 13 overall with a total score of 88 points. The men came in at No. 24 with a total of 19 points.
“We are extremely excited about this coming season and cannot wait for our first meet,” junior Aaron James said.
Senior for the women’s team, Ali Lombadi, expressed the freshman class entering the water this year have adapted well to the training.
“I’m very eager to see how we will do this season,” Lombardi said. “We have a really good strong group of girls and guys, so I believe we have amazing potential to succeed. I think we really have what it takes to dominate at conference.”
