The Tampa Spartans dropped the quarterfinal matchup in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament against Rollins College. While being within two, on two occasions, the Spartans were unable to slow down the Tars on a late 21-5 run putting them affirmatively ahead for the 73-54 victory.
UT kept the game close, heading into halftime. On a late first half 8-3 run the Spartans were down only six at the break.
Anthony LaBruno, senior, concluded his Spartan career with 11 points and team-high seven boards. Rashad Callaway led the Spartans in points and assists with 13 and four, respectively.
Tampa’s season ends with an 11-16 record, one of those wins coming in double overtime against the No. 2 ranked Valdosta State Blazers in early December.
