While Greek Life on campus was often in The Minaret’s spotlight last semester, Theta Chi has been making headlines of a different sort.
Theta Chi recently took top honors at Greek Sing 2007 in front of a packed Bob Martinez Sports Center with its first place IFC fraternity win.
Brother Sterling McLean won best individual performance for his part.
The fraternity has also accumulated 186 hours of community service, well on pace to meet their goal of 200 hours for the semester.
The hours were mostly accumulated at the fraternity’s philanthropy Shriners, which operates a hospital in North Tampa for child burn victims and children with handicaps.
Still finding time for fun, Theta Chi participated in and won Delta Gamma’s Anchor Splash.
The event pitted members of the Greek Community against each other in events from synchronized swimming at the pool to the Mr. and Mrs. Anchor Splash Talent Show.
“The recent brothers that our chapter has initiated have already proven to be valuable assets to our fraternity,” former vice president Corey Perich said. “I am excited about what our chapter has done this year and am even more excited of where we are headed.”
Jordan Chariton was recently replaced by J.J. Paolino as the fraternity’s president.
The fraternity of 41 active brothers recently initiated 14 new brothers on the 16th of November.
