CHAMPS PICKED TO REPEAT

The baseball team was ranked first in the preseason poll released by the Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

The SSC commissioner also revealed the preseason conference rankings, which placed Tampa on top, with Florida Southern coming in a distant second.

A number of key players will return, including first team All-SSC pitcher Kevin Ferguson.

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

Sophomore Mike Lewis was named the collegeswimming.com National Swimmer of the Week after winning three races against Emory and Wheaton.

Lewis won the 200-yard butterfly, the 100-yard butterfly, and the 200-yard individual medley.

TAMPA IN THE RANKINGS

In the most recently released polls, both the men’s and women’s swimming teams were ranked. The women’s team were picked in 15th place while the men were a spot lower at 16th.

Neither basketball team was ranked, but baseball topped the national preseason poll.
