The UT chapter of the Tampa Bay Association of Environmental Professionals (TBAEP) has started planning their Focus the Nation event, which will take place on college campuses all around the country on Jan. 31, 2008.
The event’s goal is to raise student awareness about global warming and to get students active in solving the problem.
The TBAEP also needs the help of the student body to get the event off the ground and is looking for artists to present their work on the Jan. 30.
Art submissions can be in any form and should focus on the future effects of global warming. Artists will be able to sell their work if they want. The TBAEP is also looking for science majors to give related presentations and for other organizations to get involved with this event to help make it a success. Other participating schools in the area include USF, Eckerd and area high schools.
The TBAEP would like to hold a future teach-in type event where educators take a few minutes to talk about global warming and its effects on their field of study. Another upcoming event is Green Democracy, which would have various political parties discuss what they would like to see happen and debate the right solution to the global warming issue.
Students who would like to get involved with should e-mail TBAEP at tbaep@ut.edu or join the Facebook group.
