Though many tend to dismiss claims of a haunted Plant Hall, nearly 600 people came to witness otherworldly forces conquer the historic building last weekend.
On Thursday and Friday night, various student organizations helped transform the Rathskeller into a haunted house, the creative idea of senior Adam Kunz.
From 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., students and members of the community were allowed to walk through “Haunted House: Choose Your Terror,” free of charge.
The entertainment was provided by “scareactors” from many different student organizations at UT, individuals that volunteered to scare visitors in one of seven different rooms along the walk of terror.
They ranged from popular horror figures such as Freddy Krueger, Jason, Michael Myers and Leatherface, to inmates of a disturbing psych ward, vampires, cannibals and creepy clowns.
Adam Kunz said of them that they “all did an awesome job, and I couldn’t have asked for a better scareactor team.”At the risk of forgetting someone, he wished to give public recognition to all the scareactors: Jackie Maass, Tanya Capper, Tessa Wimberley, Jason Kelly, Timur Aydin, Victor Quinones, Joe Conboy, Adam Barbay, Dwayne Duke, Lauren Marsicano, Vishal Ramkissoon, John Phifer, Alex Vera, Sarah Gottlieb, Brittany McKathan, Carly Skubick, Sara Maas, Jackie Schram, Cassie Ray, Jalene Goodwin, Alyssa Lum, Taz Zegers, Chanel Stewart, Steve Knauss, Renee Gerstein, Will Holly, Amanda Abadi, Rob Wunderlich, Jake Hightower, Don Gurlie, Jeanette Nicewinter, Adam Garnica, and Bradley Knight.Kunz, who one day plans to make a career out of organizing haunted houses and other entertainment venues, was very pleased with the turnout of 588 people over two nights.
He said that he couldn’t have put on the event by himself, and wished to extend special thanks to:
