The Loss of Time
In Dali’s surreal painting, Soft Watch at the Moment of First Explosion, time begins to rupture- bend and fold across perilous cliffs. Water pools from the clock’s rounded bottom like blood oozing into an ebbing tide. Innards gyre upward, glass fractures. Even careful moths find bravado on the edge of anarchy and encumbering shadows, but they stand still as if time stood still, afraid to move. And as viewers stand back and breathe in the moment of chaos, time begins to unravel in Dali’s surreal painting, Soft Watch at the Moment of First Explosion.
