Special to The MinaretThe search for a new dean of academic services has come to a close, and Dr. Jin Wang will join the University of Tampa in the new position, after being “recommended unanimously” according to Provost Janet McNew.
“I came here for the reputation of [the] University of Tampa,” said Jin Wang, Ph.D. Born in Shanxi, China, Dr. Jin Wang is currently professor of economics and associate dean at Rowan University.
Wang has certainly traveled a far way to be where he is today. He graduated with a B.A. in Economics while living just outside of Beijing.
After moving to the U.S. in 1982, Dr. Wang completed his masters in economics at Ohio State, watching Dan Rather’s news broadcast regularly to speed up the process of learning English.
He went on to receive his Ph.D. from Kansas State University in 1989. Now, he has decided it’s his turn to give back.
