There’s no substitute for justice. But once in a while, those who facilitate it must move on to new projects.
This is the case with UT’s own Judicial Coordinator Angela Lauer. As of Jan. 2, Lauer bid goodbye to the University after two and a half years of service in order to pursue an opportunity at Stetson University to further her own education. Lauer was also Greek Life Coordinator for four years before becoming Judicial Coordinator.
Gina Firth has taken on the role of interim Judicial Coordinator while the University searches for the right person to fill the delicate role.
By Friday, Jan. 26, Gina Firth and staff had conducted eight phone interviews, from which they will further narrow down the candidates for an on campus interview.
For the final decision, a panel of students from various organizations will sit down with the candidates and make the right choice for the University.
For many students on the Conduct Board, it will be an interesting transition to a new Judicial Board Coordinator. Many of them take the job very seriously and look for a lot in the new coordinator.
“They must be familiar with the policies, processes and the direction the University is going in,” explained Sabrina Griffith, an Area Coordinator at the University of Tampa, as well as an adviser for the Sunday night conduct board.
Conduct board member Lakshman Lochan stated, “We would like to see someone who has school spirit but who knows school policies and knows that the policies represent the school.” Lochan also said that he would like to see someone who has a heart for the school.
