White sheets with printed ink were pulled from a manila envelope and passed around to the crowd of 20 readily awaiting for the show to begin. The words “Sex Survey” took center stage on the top of the page. Uproars of laughter filled the Reeves Theater as students with wide eyes scribbled answers to invading questions with five minutes to go before the show.
“Hopefully we’ll have more people show up [because] we tried to advertise more,” said Quilt member and host Chris Janus.
The yellow banner hanging in Plant Hall the week prior to the show must have caught a few glances. The last Open Mic for fall ’06 gave performers a crowd complete with students as well as professors.
This holiday season didn’t quite bring the cheer that most anticipate. The lyrics and prose for the night consisted of themes such as death and nostalgia.
Kirsten Campbell jumped on stage with her acoustic guitar once her name was picked from the list of performers randomly. Her melodic voice sang into the microphone of the anguish she felt when leaving her two best friends to begin her college career.
