
The University of Tampa set the Sunshine State Conference record for the highest attendance at a women’s athletic event with an announced crowd of 1,145 vs. Florida Southern College. The combined efforts of the Spartan Fan Club, Resident Assistants and Sports Marketing Department drew students, parents and faculty to this game.
The crowd was loud, and the game was a success. The only thing missing from the fan experience at UT is a tradition.
What does this mean? At many universities with competitive athletics, the fans have a rallying point. At the University of Florida, it’s The Chomp. At Florida State, it’s The Chop.
The next step in the development of a spirited school is the creation of a tradition. The University of Tampa is in its 75th year; it’s about time for team spirit.
