TAMPA, Fla. — Netflix has announced a new spinoff of Nickelodeon’s hit sitcom Victorious, titled Hollywood Arts, which is a revival that takes fans back to the performing arts high school from the original series.
The streaming platform revealed on Oct. 24, 2025, that production is officially underway. Daniella Monet will star, reprising Trina Vega — the ambitious, often-clumsy, older sister from the original series — and will also serve as an executive producer.
Victorious aired from 2010 to 2013 and followed Tori Vega (Victoria Justice) and her friends at an elite performing arts school in Los Angeles.
The series helped launch the careers of Ariana Grande, Elizabeth Gillies, and Leon Thomas III, and became one of Nickelodeon’s most popular shows.
In the new spinoff, Trina Vega steps into the spotlight. The series follows her, an aspiring actress who never got her big break, returning to her alma mater as a substitute teacher.
Although unqualified, Trina embraces the chaos as she mentors a new generation of students chasing their own creative dreams.
“Coming back as Trina alongside such a dynamic, powerful cast of newcomers is something I feel very lucky and grateful to do,” Monet told Netflix.
The cast includes rising actors Alyssa Miles, Emmy Liu-Wang, Peyton Jackson, Erika Swayze, and Martin Kamm. Yvette Nicole Brown is set to guest star.
Filming is underway in Vancouver. Netflix expects to premiere the series in 2026; it’s slated to appear on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ later that year.
One major difference from the original series is the absence of Victorious creator Dan Schneider, who is not involved in the spinoff.
Schneider departed Nickelodeon in 2018 amid multiple allegations of misconduct and reports that he fostered a toxic workplace.
Nickelodeon has moved forward under new creative leadership and aims to introduce the Victorious brand to a new generation.
The series will feature a new production team and a modern tone while maintaining ties to the original show’s musical roots.
On Instagram, Nickelodeon hinted that the spinoff will include a new soundtrack, writing, “As an old-school Victorious fan, we can already tell this soundtrack is gonna eat. Hollywood Arts, a Victorious spinoff, is officially in production!”
When Nickelodeon shared behind-the-scenes photos from the first table read, fans quickly filled the comments section with mixed reactions.
Many viewers expressed excitement about Monet’s leading role, while others voiced disappointment at the apparent absence of most original cast members.
“Yes, Trina Vega! At a time like this, we need some nostalgia,” one user wrote. Another commented, “Victorious without Victoria doesn’t make sense.”
For now, Monet is the only confirmed returning cast member. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Victoria Justice said that she might appear.
“You never know. Maybe Tori will pop in for an episode, who knows?” said Justice. “I’m honestly just so happy for Daniella. I love her, and she deserves all the success.”
The series has no official release date. Netflix ordered 26 episodes; additional announcements are expected as production continues.
