Cake Drip is Hyde Park’s newest attraction, opening on Friday, March 5 by Faronda Davis. Cake drip’s mission is to offer “the dream experience in our alluring fairytale interior design and a fun menu like no other.”
Faronda started her food journey in 2008 when she openedABC Chefs, a children’s cooking academy, which has locations in St. Petersburg, Florida, St. Louis, Missouri and California.
Faranda decided to open a business in Tampa after her other locations temporarily closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Hyde Park wanted us to bring our kids cooking school here for two years. We live in Hyde Park and noticed it was more of a date type of thing,” said Faronda. “I wanted something different from my kids cooking school, I wanted something more trendy and more instagrammable.”
Her daughter, Alya helped her “come up with the name and the types of things they should serve.”
The customizable options are chocolate bars, popcorn, the cake drip cup, macaroons and a treat box.
For the chocolate bars, guests choose between milk, dark and white chocolate and choose between one to three toppings out of forty-two available toppings.
The cake drip cup is cake with buttercream frosting that also allows for one to three customizable toppings.
The popcorn can be topped with no drizzle, chocolate drizzle, white chocolate drizzle or dark chocolate drizzle and one color of sprinkles or no sprinkles.
The macaroons come in a pack of six and customers can choose if they want their macaroon dipped in milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, buttercream or no drip and a choice of sprinkles.
The treat box includes marshmallows, fruit, cake pieces and customers can customize the two types of chocolate they would like in the box.
If you’re wanting to make a 6-inch, three layer cake there are two options. Guests can either take all of the toppings home for $75 or decorate in-person and pay a studio fee of $9 per person, which includes tools, stencils, molds, and cutters for up to three people. After 6 p.m., do-it-yourself (DIY) in-person cake decorating sessions are reserved for those over the age of 21.
Special cakes such as Drunk Barbie and Cannabis Cake are for ages 21 and older and cost $85 dollars.
The other in-studio event is DIY Chocolate Tasting Flight for those who are ages 21 and older. Guests get to choose ingredients for a chocolate base, receive chocolate spoons with cheesecake pieces, get a treat box and complementary champagne. DIY Chocolate Tasting Flight is $45 per person or $65 per couple.
Both in-studio events accept walk-ins and can be reserved for parties and private events. If you are doing a group studio event, everyone in the group must be 21 years old or older for both the DIY Chocolate Tasting Flight and DIY CAKE decorating after 6 p.m.
