UT senior Ashley Chengarian is filming a movie about Rachel Carson called “A Forest Within” and is looking for extras to be in the film.
Carson was a bio-activist in the 50s and 60s that was against the use of the pesticide DDT. The pesticide companies threatened her for protesting against the use of certain pesticides. The Kennedy Administration listened to her cause and banned the use of certain chemicals because of its harmful effect.
Extras who wish to participate are asked to wear clothes that date back to the 50s and 60s or the more notorious Hippy Style. Protest Signs are also requested. The signs should be against the use of DDT.
The filming will be Saturday, Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in front of Plant Hall.
