The International Programs Office and Sigma Phi Epsilon are hosting an international film festival in Reeves Theater in Vaughn. The festival will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on March 31, April 2, and April 3.

The first film is White Light/Black Rain, which examines the effects of nuclear warfare through interviews with 14 survivors of the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as four Americans involved in the bombings.

Second is Enemies of Happiness, documenting the famous and infamous Malalai Joya. She was an assembly candidate in the 2005 Afghanistan elections who spoke out against corrupt warlords at the Grand Council of tribal elders. Though she is considered a national hero in her home country, Joya has been under constant protection in the past few years, because of death threats.

The festival concludes with A Lesson of Belarusian. This documentary follows Franek Viacorka and his classmates as they run and underground newspaper and record music with activist lyrics. The students are under constant threat of arrest, but they never stop believing that Belarus will one day be free.
