After squeaking out a 3-2 victory against Lynn on Friday, the University of Tampa volleyball team advanced to the Elite Eight with a 3-0 sweep of Florida Southern.
The Spartans only real test came in the first game after they gave up a nine-point lead. The Moccasins rallied to take a one-point lead, but Tampa answered to win the game 30-27.
A 30-26 win followed by a 30-19 victory gave Tampa the sweep.
UT was lucky to advance to the south regional final after surviving a scare against Lynn the night before. Annalea Warren, who averages 2.13 kills a game, helped the Spartans rally from a 0-2 deficit as she recorded a career-high 16 kills to keep the Spartans season alive.
UT returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 29 in the Elite Eight. The site is still to be determined. The Spartans are attempting to repeat as National Champions after winning their first title last season.
