SWIMMING OWNS SSC
The men’s and women’s swimming teams each won the Sunshine State Relays in convincing fashion, with UT taking 18 of the 20 races.
The event, which was all relay events, included UT, Florida Southern, Rollins, Saint Leo and Central Florida.
Tampa will be back in action on Saturday as it travels to perennial powerhouse Indian River Community College. The meet is scheduled for 11 a.m.

BBALL RANKINGS REVEALED
The Spartans men’s basketball team was picked to finish fourth in the SSC for the 2007-2008 season.
The team returns four of five starters from last season.
For the first time ever, the women’s basketball team was picked to finish fourth.
After two consecutive SSC tournament championships, the team finally got some respect in the local polls.
The women’s team is senior-heavy, and The Minaret picks them to finish first.
TAMPA IN THE RANKINGS
Volleyball is ranked second in the nation after losing 3-2 to Florida Southern. They are first in the region.
The NSCAA did not release rankings for women’s soccer, who were previously ranked 14th.
Women’s cross country remained 15th nationally and first regionally.
There were also no rankings released for men’s soccer who almost cracked last week’s top 25.
