Do you think other cell phone companies were just going to sit there when the iPhone was released? Think again! For those of you out there that are flip phone enthusiasts and still do not trust the touch screen capability of the future, the LG Musiq, powered by Sprint, is the right phone for you.
Let’s put it this way, it is a cross between Motorola Razor, which is old fashion by now unless you have the pink one of course, and the Chocolate Series, your favorite MP3 player, radio transmitter and live TV station. That’s right all of that in one phone.
The Musiq is 3.8 inches long, 1.9 inches wide and a little more than a half an inch thick. The phone only weighs about 3.8 ounces. A front LCD and 2.25 inch main LCD, which is pretty big for most standard flip phones.
It features a camera and camcorder of course. In order for the consumer to take their favorite photos and films the phone itself does not have enough memory, so a SD memory card must be purchased. One downfall of a few, but most phones these days require a little extra expense for all the gadgets and services.
Other cool features include live TV channels ranging from local news to the history channel and your season pass to all sports. A radio transmitter through Bluetooth which is also unique. Internet and e-mail access are also available.
For music, the Musiq is compatible with MP3 which is nice because some phones only accept Windows Media Player files. Another unique feature that the LG Muziq has through its network carrier, Sprint is the ability to download songs at “Sprint Speed” from thousands and thousands of tracks through Sprint’s Music Store at a cost of $.99 a song, not only the popular music that we hear all day. For example, I was searching for international music and it was great. I was able to download several songs that I was looking for and even a couple of self teaching language tutorials. I found some Sinatra too!
There was nothing I really didn’t like about the phone. The only thing I didn’t like was the touch sensitive dial in the front of the phone. It was a little too sensitive for my touch and I couldn’t navigate my play list in the most convenient ways.
Here is the plan I suggest for the LG Muziq. There are several. If you just want music, there is one, for tv there is one, but I suggest Sprint’s Ultimate Pack. The Ultimate Pack includes all music, tv and navigation packs. This includes over 50 radio channels, access to the Sprint Music Store and other features. Check out Sprint.com for a more up to date pricing.
So, I hope you haven’t been sucked into the iPhone generation just yet. You know the flip phone is calling your name and the new versions of the flip phone will give the iPhone a run for its money.
